OUR BEGINNINGS WERE HUMBLE
I have always had an fascination with jewelry and an innate love of working with my hands. I have had no formal training in jewelry design or creation but have learned my craft primarily from books, websites and videos.
I draw inspiration from the places I have visited, the people I have met, as well as from immersing myself into techniques of traditional artisans. The designs are an integration of my experiences: they are deeply influenced by my travels, my childhood, my love of nature and water, and the way a single piece of jewelry connects the designer, the hands that made it, and the person who sees it, wears it and makes it their own. Nature is more than an inspiration for me; it influences who I am and how I sees the world, the decisions I make and how I run my business, including the use of found objects, recycled metals and responsible suppliers. Craftsmanship is an integral part of the business as well. Not only does Wolfe Creek Creations' jewelry go from design to production under one roof, it’s made by a gifted pair of people who care about the pieces and love what they do. Robert Kelly (Owner of and Artisan at Cool Ridge Creations) |
In 1993 Robert launched Wolfe Creek Gems in Fayetteville, WV. A venture based solely on the premise of buying and selling gemstones and minerals. The company grew and focus began to change from stones sales to jewelry creation and in 1999 the name was changed to Wolfe Creek Creations. In May of 2015 Robert and his wife Niki moved to Cool Ridge, WV to a much larger space with room to allow the business to grown both financially AND artistically. In 2019 we changed the name to Cool Ridge Creations to help better grow a brand and separate ourselves from the multitude of others using the name Wolfe Creek.

How it Started
|
What's in a Name?
|
So what about the name? Robert lived most of his life near Wolf Creek in Fayette County, WV. Its an amazing place to live with lots of natural inspiration. There are beautiful green forests, crystal clear blue springs, a deep dark blue winding river, and skies of every blue imaginable. While he was growing up there you could find a sign at the end of the road that said WOLFE CREEK RD. Spelled with an E. One year all of the road signs were changed and they dropped the E from the name. It will forever remain WOLFE Creek Rd for Robert and he decided to use that name to honor what was his home for so many years. The change came, as you may have read above, because so many others use the name Wolf Creek for their businesses all over the country. So many times people would ask us if we were one of the OTHER ones. So, a change was in order. What better than to adopt the name of our NEW home, COOL RIDGE!
